For as long as I can remember there have been talk about mother in - laws ...... movies, gossip, just plain talk and even fairy tales have been written about them..... it makes me wonder..... have mother in - laws always been bad, cruel, the wicked witch of the west.... as portrait most of the time. Is this a warning to all you females out there that to be married is to being ready for your MOTHER IN -LAW?
It has been said that girls from a very young age have been forewarned to learn to cook, clean and sew let alone be able to have many many children for your mother in - laws.
I have come across people who have kids about to be married and just like another mother, she would have a million things to prepare for the wedding. But does this include preparing her own bedroom in the newly Wed's home??? , a mother who wanted to have the hotel room next to the bridal room, one who kept count of the future daughter in - laws period days!!!
When did we mothers turn into such people????
I should think that we , who have been married and most of all have had mother in - laws (be she good or other wise) and gone through the experience and should know better...... but yet we some how start repeating history..... how come???? .... Is it a "Mother In - Law Syndrome" that we all are doomed to get as soon as we hear that one of our children is getting married.
Since I too have children and will become a mother in - law some day .......... I pray that I don't be come one of those "Mother In - Laws".....
Kids, here's a message to you ....... If I start to show signs of the onset of the "Mother In - Law Syndrome" please shoot me and put me out of your misery.

Penang Asam Laksa

A couple of months back the hubby had gone out fishing with the guys ..... needless to say when they got back we had enough to feed 100 people..... well almost..... I gave as much as I could to the neighbours and friends but a lass I was still stuck with a freezer full of fish....... sigh!
I prepared the fish next to every way I knew..... fried, steam, grilled, cutlets, sambal and also Penang Asam Laksa..... for those of you who don't know this dish well is basically a sour soup made out of fish flakes and eaten with rice noodles.
Since cooking this dish required a litle extra work so we decided to invite a few friends over to join us.....

So, there we were sitting at the dinning table with our bowls of hot steaming asam laksa.... sweat was dripping down the hubby's face as I watched him slurping up his laksa...... now there's a satisfied man.....
Before you start on this meal, make sure you have your drink of water ready by your side.... considered yourself warned.....
Hmmmm ..... wondering when will the children be back at the same time so that we can have Penang Prawn Mee next..... hope I don't have to wait too long....

Down Memory Lane
Over the pass two weeks ...... well life has been like a hurricane for the hubby and yours truly.... not that I'm complaning ...... we've had a wedding, a picnic, a bbq as well as our wedding anniversary.
First of all we were all excited about attending the wedding of our adopted God Daughter (she adopted us that is). The hubby and I left home early the morning of the wedding so that we could make it there in time for Mass but due to some road works and of course getting lost did nothing to help..... we just managed to make it to the Church half way thru the ceremony...... sad to say we missed the best part because I understand that the groom had promised to improve on his driving skills as part of his marraige vows...... now here's a brave man....
Anyway, upon entering the church, the first thing I noticed was the decorations of Red Roses everywhere. and as I looked around at the decorations that was done by the bride and her team, it felt as if I had stepped into a piece of paradise, surrounded by the great feeling of love that was there. The couple had family members and friends that had come from as far as Australia, England as well as the US.
Hearing the choir singing, and with the decorations all around tears began to swell up in my eyes as I started to feel all nostalgic. Thoughts started to flow about how it was at my wedding ..... I can still remember it as if it happen just yesterday, we had our church ceremony and then we had a garden reception right next to the beach and that was 23 years ago.
There had been times on how my daughter and I would share our thoughts about what would be nice to have at weddings and maybe we should become wedding planners. Well I'll have to wait and see I guest.
As for the picnic and the bbq I'll leave that for another day.....

ANYTHING!!!
Daily I sit wondering what would I be cooking the next day.... I go over to the hubby and ask "what would you like to eat tomorrow?" and the normal reply would be " anything!" ...... So what the hell is "ANYTHING"
Is there a dish called "anything"?..... I'm baffled by these answers.... is it a male thing to say "anything" I wonder....
Many a times I really wonder if I should just kick myself in the butt for asking these questions.... I should just go ahead and cook whatever that comes to my mind (provided its already in the freezer) so I need not go to the wet market. Silly me for asking.... :((
It use to be alot easier in the pass, but now ....what with the kids not around and there's only the both of us .... well cooking for two is now becoming quite a chore..... So thank God the hubby has now become quite relaxed and eating a curry for a few days is acceptable...... hurray for me......less cooking.....
So if anyone out there knows how to cook "anything" do let me know so that I can finally cook the dish my hubby wants....... :p

Semua Naik!!
" Sekarang semua naiklah.....minyak naik.... makan naik.... badan pun naik.... gaji saja takda naik???.... So what do we do with the cost of living going up??? How to go on living?? How will we deal with our need to have our branded shoes, handbags, our coffee at Coffee Bean or Star Bucks ...... sob sob sob
The whole nation seem to have been hit by the Price Hike PANIC with just a hike in the fuel price ..... Some of us seen to be trying to save on every expect of our lives and then theres some of us just go on by as if there was nothing to worry about..... hmmm... how is this????? What makes us different??? ...... I wonder...... Whats with these people??? Have they gone mad? Do they not realise that theres a raise in next to everything .. with exception of our salary... Do they have a pot of gold somewhere? I wonder?......
Majority of us looks forward to the end of each month.... when we all get our salary..... or in my case my darling husbands'..... why is this? Some of us wish that we could get paid twice a month, once every forth nite.... "better to budget" but is it?? Is it not the same amount of $$$ that we receive in total, weather paid once or twice a month.
I suppose it comes to $$ management..... or just how much will power does one have when its down to much do you need it or just plain want it....
Tell me how do you feel about spending your Mulla ($$$) ......
